DIY Green: A Thermally-Stabilized DPSS Green Laser
About
Eventually, I'll add a nice description about what I'm planning to do, but suffice it to say that I want to build a DPSS green laser basically from scratch. The crystals will be cooled and heated to their optimal temperatures via thermoelectric coolers and resistive heating elements. Those devices will be controlled by a simple microcontroller. My goal is to design easy-to-machine parts that fit together nicely and offer as much fine tuning as possible to maximize the efficiency of the system. Right now, given a 2W pump, I'm shooting for 20-25% efficiency.
Blog Entries
I'll move all of the most important aspects of the project to this page at some point, but for now, I'm going to keep a running list of blog entries on the topic. These entries often include pics or plans.
- Preliminary plans and sketches
- First crystal tests and characterization
- Testing the diode with a different set of crystals
