Italy 2006

Italy 2006

During the week of 4/16/06 I was in Italy. Although I visited Florence for a day, most of my trip was spent in Rome, visiting several sites from both Pagan Rome and Christian Rome (including about 30 churches). I have selected a few pictures from the 627 that I have taken for you to see here. Click on them for a larger view. Enjoy! (No, I'm not in any of them).

Going to the Easter Mass on Sunday, April 23 in St. Peter's Square. There were tons of people, as expected; this was the Pope's first Easter Mass.

The Pantheon. Note that the obelisk to the left is one of several ancient Egyptian obelisks that were taken to Rome by the Romans from Egypt.

Back in Rome again. These are the twin churches near where I stayed; they reside just on the edge of Piazza del Popolo, a lively square.

Another view of Piazza del Popolo. The obelisk there is under restoration, so they have put up a painted silkscreen around it.
