Souping up my Old Mac

About

When I was just 10 years old, I bought a Performa 450 at a yard sale for around $20 (the "cute kid" charm worked, I suppose). I used this computer for quite a while. Despite its limited hardware (notably the lack of an FPU) and software capabilities, I was able to find all sorts of hacks and modifications. I even used ResEdit to play around with system files (that was risky because I didn't know what I was doing). A few years ago (around 2002 or 2003, I think), I began my first real computer hobby project; I attempted to install NetBSD onto this computer.

It took a few tries (there were some problems with partitioning the drive), but I was finally able to get everything up and running. After purchasing a network card (interesting anomally: it needed a 10MB/s hub; a 10/100 hub wouldn't work), I was able to connect this computer to the internet without any trouble. For a while, I used it as a test server.
